Flu season is upon us and in our house we’re ramping up on all immune boosting nutrition. I’ve always been a huge fan of immunity shots at my local juice shop. One of my favorites was at a spot in Orlando that made a GTL shot of ginger, turmeric and lemon. A few sips of that baby and your sinuses are totally clear, promise.
Today I’m excited to share an easy DIY version of my favorite immunity booster! No, I don’t have a juicer at home, so this GTL immunity elixir is blender friendly. Interested yet? I thought you might be.
GINGER is commonly used to help soothe an upset stomach or nausea and aids in digestion.
TURMERIC is an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, protecting your body from free radicals. Some studies say it can even aid in treating depression and preventing arthritis, Alzheimer’s, heart disease and cancer.
LEMONS are a great source of vitamin C (a natural antioxidant with antiviral and antibacterial properties!) and help alkalize the body. They’re also high in potassium, which aids kidney function and the regulation of blood pressure.
ORANGE JUICE is another great (and usually more convenient) source of vitamin C and antioxidants.
CAYENNE brings the heat to help clear sinuses, relieve fever and potentially lower body temperature.
PINK HIMALAYAN SALT restores electrolytes to keep from dehydration.
BLACK PEPPER has its own benefits like relieving headaches and nausea, but it’s best asset? It boosts your body’s absorption of turmeric!
